TYP Mentorship

TYP believes that mentorship is a critical component of creating a community where Young Professionals can and want to stay and thrive. Professionals who are mentored are statistically more likely to be satisfied with their careers and communities, more likely to feel positively about their organization and where they live, and are less likely to transition or leave their place of work or community.

TYP is committed to Professional Development as a core priority of the organization, providing resources and opportunities to facilitate early to mid-level career growth. One of the key ways in which we have set out to accomplish this is TYP Mentorship, helping TYP members seek and secure 1:1 mentorship in a structured 12-week cohort based program.


We are curating our next TYP Mentorship cohort for Spring 2024, with up to 24 top-flight mentors from the Southern Arizona Leadership Council who will be carefully paired with the most appropriate TYP Member mentee through an application process for a 12-week one to one mentorship program.

The mentorship curation process is being designed to take into account life & career stage, desired goals, job sector, and more, to ensure maximum benefit to both the mentors and mentees. We will guide the mentee and mentor through the pursuit of personal, professional, and community impact goals throughout the 12-week program; pairing enough structure to be engaging, with enough opportunity for organic, individualized growth and development.


The mentee application is closed. We are working hard to intentionally pair our mentees with the best fit mentor for them. Matches will be finalized the week of January 22nd.

The TYP Mentorship Program will kickoff with a special orientation gathering on Feb. 8, 2024. We will mark the half-way point of the program, with a mixer for all mentors and mentees to network together and wrap up with a commencement celebration the week of May 21, 2024.


Mentors and Mentees will each commit to one weekly half-hour meeting (virtual, in-person, or hybrid), every week for the 12-week cohort. Each week will focus on a theme within our the three TYP Pillars: Connect, Grow, and Advocate, as outlined below, and will come with guided conversations prompts to aide the mentee/mentor relationship building.
