October 2015 | Layton Cox

Layton-300x270 was raised in Midland, TX. Only famous for its role in the blockbuster movie, Friday Night Lights, Midland is an oil and gas paradise for the common Texas cowboy. Layton had zero desire to be either an engineer or a cowboy, so he set out for “greener” pastures. During a series of college visits, Layton came across Tucson in January. Impressed by the co-eds, golf courses, and weather, Layton knew his “greener” pasture may be a little bit drier than he anticipated.

Layton started his academic career at the University of Arizona in 2009. During his time at UofA, Layton became greatly involved in Greek Life. He started Theta Chi fraternity with four of his friends his freshman year and was able to grow it to 120 members by the time he graduated. He also held the president position on the governing board for all Fraternity life his junior and senior year, winning Greek Man of the Year his senior year. Layton graduated from Eller with a major concentration in accounting in 2013.

After graduation, Layton took the role of Director of Retirement Plan Consulting for Pathways Financial Partners. Layton consults corporate retirement plans, like 401(k)s, for small businesses in the Southwestern United States. Layton consults on $20 Million of 401(k) assets.

Driven by the desire to help people make wiser financial decisions, Layton runs a startup called My Pathway. My Pathway is an online investment management and financial planning service to help anyone with more than $2,400 invest and plan for the future. You can read more on Layton’s startup at www.2mypathway.com

June is TYP Pay It Forward Month

Tucson Young Professionals will be aiding the Primavera Foundation in replenishing their Starting Over Supplies (SOS) in the month of June for our Pay It Forward Month.

When a family or individual comes to Primavera with nothing, they try to provide them with SOS. For example, if the family is moving into the Bridges Housing Program and has nothing with them, Primavera gives them a laundry basket with dish soap, pots, pans, sheets, bath towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, a toothbrush, and other items. Or if someone is moving out of their transitional housing program and is in need of supplies –Primavera provides support as well.

TYP will be collecting supplies all month. Please contact your favorite TYP board member or Philanthropy Committee member if you have any items you can provide from the following list. They will be able to get your donations to our Philanthropy Chair. Otherwise, contact our Philanthropy Chair directly. She would be happy to meet you to collect supplies or answer any questions you may have: Aimee Dolmseth, aimee.dolmseth@callpointe.com, 206-406-9809.
