TYP Professional Member of the Month
- March 2017 | Jade Nunes
Tucson-native, Jade Nunes, is a skilled wordsmith and editor serving as Habitat for Humanity Tucson’s CommunicationsSpecialist. She brings an innate knowledge of media relations and a strong voice to the nonprofit’s storytelling efforts. Her skills and expertise are supported by a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from the University of Arizona.
While attending the U of A, Jade served as a news reporter for The Daily Wildcat, covered local arts and events with Zocalo Magazine and worked alongside veteran journalists as a features apprentice at The Arizona Daily Star.
She also spent Summer 2013 covering environmental issues in Costa Rica, where she explored how native people continue to live off the land amidst severe poverty and foreign industrial impact.
In the spring of 2014, Jade was noted for her writing skills, work ethic, and tenacity. She was awarded the B.P. Campbell Junior of the Year distinction through the U of A School of Journalism.
Jade went on to study at New Jersey City University while enrolled at the U of A as part of the National Student Exchange. There, she pursued a number of internships before accepting an opportunity as a research intern with the Upstart Business Journal in Manhattan. She helped profile small businesses and entrepreneurs across the country in preparation for the inaugural Upstart 100 Awards.
Jade graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona with a BA in Journalism and a Humanities-Thematic minor with an emphasis in Intercultural Studies. She now assists TYP by serving on the Marketing Committee and is also an active member of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Southern Arizona. Read more
